Doug Vaughn: Mom.... and the Reds

In 1983 a group of CAP volunteers loaded up a van in Lancaster, Kentucky and went along with Doug Vaughn to a Cincinnati Reds game. After the game we stopped at Doug's mom, Flo Vaughn in Ludlow, KY for a nice visit. Doug's sisters Barb and Dottie were happy to meet and feed all of us. This was the beginning of what has become an annual tradition with Doug and Keith attending Reds games and then stopping by Doug's mom home for a great meal and a visit.Keith's sons Eric, Matthew and Jacob started going along about 1992.We have not missed going from 1983 to 2005.
Through the years we have seen Doug's nieces and nephews grow until they have kids of their own. Todd Shields has played many a card game with Doug and Keiths kids have played street ball with Henry, Cody, Kelsie and the rest. In July of 2005 Doug's Mom Flo passed away. We all miss her very much and are thankful for all the good times we had together. We will continue to look forward to taking the trip up to the Reds game and Doug's family as long as we are able.
